Metaphysical Organisms

A church is like a body. It is a collection of cells (people) that collectively form and uphold the church.

In a similar way, a religion exists as a collection of churches. Catholicism is structured in a hierarchy in which the pope is the head of the entire religion. Catholicism is not just an ideology based on some old book, it is a living, growing organism. The rules that catholics follow are rules for a reason. Without order, such as the catholic church, people would have no direction in life. They would be hopelessly trying to serve their individual self. Rather, Catholicism allows us to serve something greater than ourselves.

As you can see, catholicism stays "alive" in a very specific way. It is structured similarly to a government and essentially makes the pope the "leader" of all catholics.

Catholicism is not the only example of this type of organization. For example, you're made of atoms, which group into molecules, which group into organelles, which group into cells, which group into tissues, which group into organs, which work together to form organ systems, which group into organisms.

If humans are fundamentally just atoms organized in a certain way, then could a certain organization of humans also be conscious?
